Offringa, Quintana, Seman, Navarro.
(in compenso, belle condizioni in acqua).
And we have arrived at the finals.
For both women and men, the finals of the Pro category should be held today. The heats should be held around 3:00 PM local time, around 8:00 PM in Europe. Who is your favourite rider?
The forecasts are good, especially regarding the swell.
Yesterday, the round of 16, quarterfinals and semi-finals were held, with a fierce battle especially in the latter. If you want to see the details, go here: internationalwindsurfingtour.com/chile-2025/
In the end, the following riders made it to the final for the men's category:
Juban, Cloarec, Parè and Brawzinho.
These ones, among the women:
Offringa, Quintana, Seman, Navarro.
Federico Morisio came within a whisker of the final, placing third behind Brawzinho, in his semi-final, with 10.44, against 11.03.
I followed the streaming a bit, last night, despite the signal quality not being impeccable. The races took place with strong wind, but with modest quality waves, with the various riders often
letting go the ones they had caught, to look for something better. Perhaps, the organizers, given the good forecasts for today and tomorrow, could have waited.
In short, yesterday's races did not take place in the epic conditions of last year.
While I'm at it, I'd also like to point out this video of Finn Mellon, IRL 7, one of the Pros in the race, which I watched yesterday, to evaluate the surrounding conditions, for a possible trip there. Access to the Topocalma spot was not trivial... (on the other hand, beautiful conditions in the water).

"The Chile World Cup exploded into action today with mast-high surf and perfect down-the-line conditions, setting the stage for the opening rounds of the Champions Bracket in both the men’s and women’s divisions. Under a blazing sun and with a massive local crowd lining the hotels and cafes, the boardwalk and the beach, the world’s best wave riders delivered a day of non-stop highlights, drama, and unforgettable moments.
Local Hero Benjamin Fabres Ignites the Crowd
One of the biggest moments of the day came from local favorite Benjamin Fabres 🇨🇱, who stunned the field in Heat 5 of the men’s R6 CT Seeding round. Against seasoned global veterans including last years champion Camille Juban 🇬🇵🇫🇷 and tour veteran Jules Denel 🇫🇷, Fabres rose to the occasion in front of his home crowd, delivering a series of committed, critical turns and stylish aerials and a spectacular goiter to score 11.13 – one of the top heat scores of the day.
As Fabres kicked out of his final wave and returned to the beach, the crowd erupted. Hundreds of fans lining the shore cheered wildly, chanting his name and rushed toward him as he stepped back onto the sand. With flags waving, music pumping, the beach commentator going wild with excitement, it had an atmosphere more reminiscent of a football stadium than a surf event, it was likely a moment that will go down in Chilean windsurfing history.
To win a 5 star champions rounds heat at home, in front of his family and friends, after fighting his way through a huge field of challenger riders, it must have been something he’s dreamed about. It was a very special moment for him and for this community so proud and excited by their hero. And there’s a good chance he’s not done yet.
Women’s Champions Bracket Heats Up
In the women’s draw, the top seeds began their run in Round 2, with 25 x world champion and reigning wave world champion Sarah-Quita Offringa 🇦🇼 🇳🇱, Sol Degrieck 🇧🇪, Pauline Katz 🇨🇭 , and Lina Erpenstein 🇩🇪, all advancing with confidence. Lisa Wersmeister 🇬🇵🇫🇷 also impressed, while Maria Andres 🇪🇸 showed her veteran skill, winning Round 3 Heat 1.
The women made it to the last redemption heat before being forced to cancel with the dropping wind.
Men’s Champions Bracket Stacked for Battle
The men’s Round of 24 is now fully set after an incredible day of seeding and redemption heats. Standouts included heat winners:
Marcilio Browne 🇧🇷 (13.03) 4 x world champion, reigning world champion, posted the highest score of the day with a world champ’s precision
Robby Swift 🇬🇧 (12.33) who took his power riding to town in the great conditions.
Philip Köster 🇩🇪 (10.17) returning to top formJulian Salmonn (11.93) showing explosive powerAnd of course, Benjamin Fabres 🇨🇱 (11.13) setting the beach on fire.
The elite 24-man bracket will get underway tomorrow. The road to the final is packed with potential matchups that fans have been dreaming about.
This is the kind of day that defines a world tour. Incredible waves, world-class performances, and a crowd that brought the kind of energy that makes this sport truly global. Benjamin Fabres’ moment today was magical — pure emotion, pure sport."
