Sagres is a small village in Portugal, near the southwestern tip of Europe, that dives in the Atlantic Ocean: Cabo de Sao Vicente. It has a very special atmosphere, and offers some very nice spots for surfing.

Surfing: Sagres spots, Algarve, Portugal

I had already had the opportunity to explore Sagres a few years ago, and enjoyed the place, not only for the beauty of its landscapes, but also for the possibilities it offers for windsurfing (read the review of windsurfing spots).

I had the opportunity to return there recently (and I will definitely return...), and explore the spots for surfing. The spots around the city are: Praia do Tonel, Praia do Beliche, and Praia da Mareta (see map later in the article).

In few words, Sagres offers wonderful opportunities for practicing surfing. And when there are no waves on the coast facing to the South, just drive a few kilometers to the spots of the Costa Vicentina (e.g. Praia da Bordeira or Carrapateira, immense and scenic), north of Cabo de Sao Vicente, exposed to the West, to surely find some waves to surf.

Enjoy your waves. Fabio
