Since I wanted to try and set up the JP Magic Wave Pro also as a Quad, I decided to buy a pair of K4 Leon SS fins, and Scorcher Rear SS. In this article, I will tell you my impressions on the board behavior with these fins.
Windsurfing, fins test: K4 Leon e Scorcher Rear Super Stiff
I had already had the opportunity to try the K4 fins, and to blow away any prejudice about this brand (read the article on the results of the previous test).
Therefore, since I wanted to set up my new JP Magic Wave Pro board also as a Quad, I asked to the Italian distributor, Antonello Giglio of Hatropina.com, for advice. The Magic Wave Pro by default is delivered with a thruster fins setup and with RTM JP fins (20 cm central one, 10 cm side fins).
My idea, at the moment, is to use the standard side fins, and to match tjem with two new central fins, also to better understand the differences in behavior of the board, with a more gradual change in fins setup.
My aim, by setting the board as a Quad, is to give the board more lift and grip, in relatively lighter wind conditions and/or bigger waves, and thus expand the conditions of use of the board, which has 5 boxes (also read the article on the different possible setups of multifin boards).

I also had the opportunity to test the fins properly in South Africa with big wave conditions. At Sunset Beach, with mast high waves, I set it up as a quad, with two K4 Scorcher 16, as central ones. When it came to surfing the waves, the board remained absolutely soft underfoot, docile and in control both in the approach to the bottom turns and in the cut backs, allowing you to always set your preferred route.
Again at Sunset beach, with waves of 2-3 meters, therefore smaller, and strong but more unstable wind, I preferred to set the board up as a quad, but with two K4 Leon, more rigid, as central fins. With this setup, the board allowed me to go upwind better, and to tighten the radius of curvature more in the bottom turns, to stay attached to the wall of the wave.
Ultimately, I can only confirm my satisfaction and my trust in the K4 fins.
Ciao. Fabio
