E siamo arrivati anche alla fine di questo 2023.
In queste ore, mi viene soprattutto da pensare a cosa vorrei dal 2024 che sta per arrivare.
E' inutile illudersi. Anche il 2024 ci porterà la sua bella dose di difficoltà e di problemi. Così è la vita. Quindi, non ha senso augurarsi ed augurarvi che vada tutto bene.

Sono tempi in cui non è facile rimanere positivi (poi dipende dal carattere di ognuno). Io, nonostante la mia legittima dose di sfighe, cerco di concentrarmi su ciò che di buono posso fare, e su ciò che di buono mi circonda.
Uno dei miei giornalisti preferiti (Mario Calabresi), in questi giorni, ha fatto una simile riflessione, e si è concentrato sulle persone che ha incontrato nel 2023, e che lo hanno moralmente, emotivamente, e culturalmente arricchito. E di persone in gamba, nonostante quello che si potrebbe credere, per fortuna ce ne sono ancora molte. Ecco forse l'augurio che mi verrebbe da formulare è che le persone positive, pacifiche, solidali, insomma la gente che vale, possa fare squadra ed opporre più resistenza agli individualisti, e guerrafondai, che sembrano aver solo lo scopo di rovinare l'esistenza al prossimo.

Dopo questa ampia premessa (ma Waterwind è anche questo, un luogo dove condividere storie e pensieri), vengo a qualche pensiero su Waterwind.

Un proposito per il 2024 è quello di fare più gruppo, più comunità. Sto pensando a qualche iniziativa insieme, in destinazioni alla portata di tutti (Gruissan, Hyeres, o la Sardegna), per passare tempo insieme a terra ed in acqua, e scambiarci consigli ed esperienze. Il ponte del 25 aprile potrebbe essere una prima data possibile. Con alcuni di voi, ci vedremo presto anche in Sud Africa....
Sarebbe bello organizzare qualcosa insieme anche con quelli più appassionati di montagna, ambiente che mi dà sempre emozioni fortissime.

Per quanto riguarda il sito internet, ammetto che ogni tanto mi viene da pensare di mollare.....

E' chiaro che il mondo, dal punto di vista della comunicazione digitale, si sta trasformando, con troppi contenuti che ci bombardano, sempre più effimeri. Ho già detto più volte quello che penso: sopporto sempre di meno la direzione verso cui ci stanno portando i social, con contenuti spesso ridotti ad una o poche immagini, brevi video, da consumare in un attimo, che raccontano poco (spesso non viene nemmeno detto a che luogo si riferiscono). Ci stanno abituando ad avere un'attenzione che non va oltre i pochi secondi, che non si concilia con i contenuti di qualità, ed approfonditi. E poi è sempre più evidente che i social si stanno trasformando in una piattaforma pubblicitaria.... oltre che in un mezzo in cui mostrarsi, pavoneggiarsi, e suscitare invidia e basta. E poi ci portano di continuo a sognare un mondo irreale, spesso per noi impossibile.

Io ho sempre avuto bisogno di contenuti più interessanti, ed ho sempre avuto come principale fine la condivisione....
Un tempo stavamo sul divano a leggerci una bella rivista o un buon libro di vela, di montagna, o di windsurf. 

Il mondo andrà dove gli pare. Ma io, invecchiando,  ho sempre più bisogno di storie, relazioni ed esperienze autentiche, che rimangono e per cui vale la pena di spendere il proprio tempo.

Nel 2024, penso che staccherò progressivamente la spina dai social network, limitandomi a rilanciare solo qualche contenuto del sito. Chi è interessato ai contenuti di Waterwind, e non volesse perderli, li cerchi sul sito internet e lo consulti sistematicamente, con la frequenza che ritiene più opportuna.

E poi frequentiamoci, nel mondo reale, negli spot per windsurf, in mezzo alle onde dell'oceano, lungo gli itinerari di trekking, sui sentieri di montagna. Questo è quello che vale davvero.

And we have finally reached the end of this 2023.
In these hours, I am especially thinking about what I would like from 2024 which is about to arrive.
Unuseful to get illusions. 2024 will also bring us its fair share of difficulties and problems. That's life. Therefore, there is no use in wishing that everything will go well.

These are times when it is not easy to stay positive (it depends on everyone's character, too). Despite my legitimate dose of bad luck, I try to focus on good things I can do, and on good things that surround me.
One of my favorite journalists (Mario Calabresi), in recent days, made a similar reflection, and focused on people he met in 2023, and who enriched him morally, emotionally, and culturally. And fortunately there are still many good people, despite what one might believe. Well, perhaps the hope, that I would like to formulate, is that positive, peaceful, supportive people, in short worthy people, can team up and put up more resistance to the individualists and warmongers, who only seem to have the aim of ruining the existence to the others.

After this broad introduction (but Waterwind is also this, a place to share stories and thoughts), I come to some thoughts on Waterwind.it.

A resolution for 2024 is to create more group, more community. I'm thinking of some initiative together, in destinations within everyone's level (Gruissan, Hyeres, or Sardinia), to spend time together on land and in the water, and exchange advice and experiences. The long weekend of April 25th could be the first possible date. With some of you, we will also see each other soon in South Africa....
It would be nice to organize something together even with those who are more passionate about the mountains, an environment that always gives me very strong emotions.

As for the website, I admit that every now and then I feel like giving up..... It's clear that the world from the point of view of digital communication is transforming, with too much content bombarding us and which are increasingly ephemeral. I have already said what I think several times: I can tolerate less and less the direction in which social media is taking us, with content often reduced to one or a few images, short videos, to be consumed in an instant, which tell little (often it doesn't even come told what place they refer to). They are getting us used to having an attention span that does not go beyond a few seconds, which is not compatible with quality and in-depth content. And then it is increasingly clear that social media is turning into an advertising platform.... as well as a means in which to show off, and arouse envy in other people. And, moreover, they make us dream about an unreal world, which is often impossible for us.

I have always needed more interesting content, and my main aim has always been sharing....
Once upon a time, we sat on the sofa reading a good magazine or a good book about sailing, mountaineering or windsurfing.

The world will go where it pleases. But as I get older, I increasingly need authentic stories, relationships and experiences that last and are worth spending your time on.

In 2024, I think I will gradually unplug from social networks, limiting myself to relaunching only some content of this site. Anyone interested in the contents of Waterwind, and who does not want to lose them, can search for them on the website and consult it systematically, with the frequency they deem most appropriate.

And then let's hang out in the real world, in windsurfing spots, in the middle of the ocean waves, along trekking itineraries, on mountain paths. That's what is worth the most.
